проклятье, проклинать - и весь куст соответствующих значений.Not give a damn (или shit, или fuck - синонимы в смысле ценности) — наплевать, без разницы, по барабану, "по фигу". Если использовано слово FUCK, то ближе всего к оригиналу по экспрессии наше мудрое народное выражение "по х*ю".
Пример: "I don't give a damn what they do...".Worth a damn (shit) — ничего вообще, сущие пустяки, ни в какой степени (выражаясь, на этот раз, прилично).
Верите или нет, но прямое проклятие в Америке воспринимается очень буквально, и выглядит, на общем религиозном фоне, грубо (намного грубее, чем наше "черт возьми!", см. главу: Глава 1. На четыре буквы). Поэтому есть более мягкий заменитель - darn ( dang), см. ниже. I'll be damned (или danged, darned - для людей чувствительных, которых, впрочем, не столь уж много - обычно слышишь первый вариант) - черт меня побери! (это не дословно, но смысл в точности такой).Damn well — чертовски здорово.
